Our Food

We pride ourselves on using local produce wherever possible & luckily Somerset has a tremendous amount to offer. We love our food! We are passionate about quality! And we love to cook & bake!

We bake our own bread daily, at least white & wholemeal. All Muffins, cakes, sweetened loaves, are also made by us. Our sausages & bacon, supplied by our local butcher, comes from Chard, about half hour away. We keep full fat untreated A2 Guernsey milk, from the herd just down the road. We also have ordinary skimmed & semi skimmed. We do recommend trying the real thing though! Our gorgeous yoghurt is also from Guernsey milk, made by the farm. Eggs are super fresh & beautifully rich. Preserves/marmalades again are all homemade.

Breakfast is served between 8 and 9.30am in the dining room.

We offer the Full English all locally sourced & home cooked or alternatively something lighter such as poached eggs on toast, we guarantee the freshness!

Eating Out

Our part of Somerset is well served with some really excellent pubs and places to eat, including a number that are within a short drive (about 15 minutes) of Moorfields

The Halfway House in Pitney which is our local, sort of - The pub offers a great selection of beers, ales and ciders drawn straight from the barrel and a menu of real homemade hearty food. With a devoted following from both the village and further a field, the friendly atmosphere is filled with chatter and laughter especially at the regular events. You’ll also hear the sound of the occasional dog snoring in the corner, without a blaring jukebox or TV.

Within walking distance is the Rose & Crown, locally known as Eli's. Well worth a visit, just to say you have been in a pub without a bar! A well frequented pub in the community. What they call a proper old world pub!

A local favourite is the Devonshire Arms at Long Sutton, a very handsome building right on the village green. There's a busy, proper bar; a garden at the back; as well as a lovely terrace at the front. A great menu delivers everything it promises. Not to be missed.

The White Hart at Somerton, which serves fresh, simple, local dishes including a really tasty selection of "Little Bites" and a good cheeseboard of West Country cheeses. Set in the heart of Somerton's pretty market square.
